Short version - I was young 8)
Long version:
At that time "internet" was just a fancy word from sci-fi genre in my hometown. My friend was one of the lucky guys to have cheap night-time tariff, but couldn't use it because of exams and he let me use his connection at night time. For free. No registration and stuff. C'mon, how could I resist?!
Alas I wasn't able to sleep during daytime - also studying.
First two days I was managing just fine. Then sleep deprivation slowly took its toll.
At 4th day I had approximate knowledge of many things. Such as where am I and what I planned to do few seconds ago. Falling to microsleep randomly on blinking. Walking like a drunk and talking like a zombie.
Altered state of consciousness produced by sleep deprivation was interesting, though I was too exhausted to enjoy this experience. Thats when I decided I had enough and slept for 16 hours.

Hope you liked my little story and pardon my bad english.
I wouldn't call it "normal" functioning 8)

Nah, I know few girls in QL, they are pretty nice to play and talk to.
I guess they rather throw up in a hour or two.
But yeah, don't do it at home.
"Turn on, tune in, drop out"
Through his life Leary changed his mind a lot on what it is all about.
According to this, joy, fear and sadness feel pretty much the same in the body.
You living as an insane android, repeating mindless routine over and over, which doesn't make you happy, but you change nothing about it and carry on with unsatisfied existence.
