Ashley has a hard time trying to fit in with others, which ends with her getting isolated and having difficulty forming relationships.

Because he's a more "favored" child, naturally he becomes somewhat narcissistic and he takes advantage of his situation to control Ashley. Andrew's charm allowed him to easily win over people and he used it to isolate his sister. So not only could he keep his sister around but also be the ONLY person for Ashley to rely on (both physically and emotionally.) As a MAN. He had the ability to do everything he wanted (Cause it’s still in the 90s..). But of course, there’s always a limit. Which is why he has to "at least" restrain his violent nature, in order to continue manipulating people in doing what he wants.
