Очередной проброс интересной игры.
На днях в Стиме вышла игра Ion Fury, шутер старой школы на доработанном движке от Duke Nukem 3D. Игра получилась отличной, собрала крайне положительные отзывы и хорошо продавалась в первые дни. Лично я считаю эту игру правильным возрождением Дюка Нюкема, хоть и под другим названием.
Однако один из пользователей форума ResetERA зашел в дискорд разработчиков и прошерстил историю чата ЗА ЦЕЛЫЙ ГОД, чтобы найти в ней чего-нибудь нетолерантного. Нашел он обсуждение вопроса "могут ли родители решать, какого гендера будет их новорожденный ребенок?" Абсолютно адекватный ответ одного из разрабов "если ты решил, что твой только что рожденный ребенок должен быть трансом, то имхо у тебя проблемы с головой" и последующее "некоторые SJW пиздец поехавшие" другого разраба триггернули парня, и тот создал роковой тред на ResetERE с тоннами скриншотов, призывая перестать поддерживать "трансфобов и подонков". Заодно выяснилось, что официальный аккаунт компании в Твиттере подписан на "SJW nonsense" (местный Вертолет) и лайкал пару их постов.
Начались попытки твиттерной войны, в которой SJW-активисты раздули из мухи слона и писали, что компания Voidpoint - обезумевшие трансфобы, которые хотят видеть их мертвыми, 4 человека написали отрицательные обзоры в Стиме. Кто-то стал с ними спорить, кто-то в первый раз узнал об этой игре и теперь собирался её купить в поддержку здравомыслящего разработчика. Затем в самой игре обнаружили спрайт мыла под названием "OGAY" (пародия на OLAY) и спрятанную за картой надпись "fagbag", от чего последовала новая волна взрывов. Но, судя по комментариям, большая часть пользователей веселилась от происходящего и немедленно покупала игру.
Затем о происходящем узнали издатели игры - 3DRealms - и опубликовали официальные извинения. Они признали себя виновными в мизогинии и трансфобии, извинились за причиненную боль, пообещали вырезать оскорбительный контент, больше не принимать на работу нетолерантных людей, провести для своих сотрудников обязательные курсы чувствительности (!), поддерживать угнетаемые меньшинства в других своих играх и, самое главное - пожертвовали 10000$ в поддержку организации, занимающейся проблемами подростков-транссексуалов.
Результат - волна негативных обзоров и возвратов от целевой аудитории игры, недовольной цензурой и тем, куда уходят их деньги. Игра изчезла из списка самых покупаемых товаров в Стиме, хотя недавно занимала там первое место. Разработчики, трудившиеся над игрой несколько лет, выкручиваются, как могут и просят поиграть в игру хотя бы на пиратке, чтобы оценить их работу. Пользователи же ResetERы сошлись на том, что не примут этих извинений и все равно не купят игру, а издатели должны были пожертвовать больше денег и сделать главную героиню трансом.

Sadly I am past the refund window so I can no longer vote with my wallet. When I found out about the controversy it made my heart sink. What about the game itself? It is not too bad. It is fast-paced, has a lot of action and the levels are more or less convincing. The gun-play is fairly satisfying too. I personally can’t recommend buying this game to support a developer such as Voidpoint. 4.
