The calculated dose is to en unsheltered population. For these input parameters, total casualties ere calculated to be 16.1 million, 13.3 million of which are fatalities. should be noted that in NRDCs MAO-NF, we do not attack the 52 silo launch control centers, some or all of which are not co-located with missile silos. Casualties and Sensitivity Analysis As we will demonstrate, an attack on the silos represents a far greater threat to Russian civilians and to the environment than an attack on the other seven categories that make up Russia's nuclear forces. Figure 4.4 shows the fallout patterns that result from our MAO-NF attack on all active Russian silos, assuming the most 48-Hour Integrated Dose >10,000 rem ,000 rem Kuybyshev| 100 200 Kilometers FIGURE 4.12 A Close-up of the Tatlshchevo Missile Field Fallout Pattern Calculated for the month of December and 8 fission fraction of 50 percent. The calculated dose is to a population sheltered in multi-storied structures. For these input parameters, total casualties are calculated to be 450,000, including 270,000 fatalities. 49
