Unlimited Access: I-57 Road Construction,Tech,,PLEASE LIKE IT IF YOU LOVE IT! :) Road construction has never looked so sexy. This is a video a friend and I shot for E.T. Simonds, a local construction company based in Carbondale, Illinois. We have full access to the entire construction site, which made for some really unique shooting opportunities. The project consisted of widening a four-mile stretch of I-57 from 2 to 3 lanes. The site is located just outside Mt. Vernon, Illinois, and is slated for completion in December of 2013. The video follows all of the major steps of resurfacing, from laying down chairs and rebar, to dumping concrete, and the hand-finishing of each lane. We even made a trip to the local Ready Mix plant to see how the concrete is prepared and delivered. The project was shot on a Canon 5D Mark III. There are also a few aerial shots that a friend shot with a remote control multirotor helicopter.
