Actually, I have a lot of respect for Paul Reubens. Despite the fact that his career never really recovered after he got caught "flogging the dog", his body of work continued and was actually more prolific in the last 15 years due to a ton of voice work. And he did a lot of bit parts before really getting traction in his career. I actually think he got a shitty deal as a character actor but his role as Pee Wee was where it was always going to be his "brand". I remember him as the arcade owner in a shit flick called Midnight Madness with a young Michael J Fox and as a waiter in a more memorable film, The Blues Brothers. But I think he was starting to break out in the Cheech and Chong series. ...Ahhh high school days...
As a cancer survivor myself, 19 years C-free now, I know how difficult it can be to bring that out in the open and discuss. Everyone wants to discuss or everyone is too uncomfortable to talk about it. I give him sincere props for for fighting for six years.
