This reel represents a small sampling of the nearly 900 visual effects shots ILM contributed to the film created by an international crew of 300+. The bulk of ILM's work appears in the film's third act and consists of the helicarrier's massive underwater hanger, their ensuing battle, and the helicarriers themselves inside and out, sprawling digital Washington D.C. and Rosslyn environments including the Triskelion building complex on Roosevelt Island, highly detailed digital doubles for Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Falcon (Anthony Mackie). The Great Gatsby VFX,Gatsby VFX, Gatsby Visual Effects, Chris Godfrey VFX Supervisor, Baz Luhrmann, The Great Gatsby VFX, VFX for Gatsby, The Great Gatsby Visual effects, Visual Effects for the Great Gat,My name is Chris Godfrey and I was the VFX supervisor on the film. Baz has graciously agreed to let us release this 'before and afters' reel to show our peer group the VFX work completed on his film 'The Great Gatsby'. While this specific reel was the work of Animal Logic (as my primary vendor), in total I worked with 7 vendors including Animal Logic, Rising Sun and Iloura in Australia, ILM in San Francisco and also Prime Focus and Method Vancouver. We also ran an amazing internal SWAT team that completed over 400 shots. Congratulations to all who did such fabulous work on almost 1500 shots and especially to Andy Brown from Animal Logic who put this sequence together. Many thanks to Baz, CM, Catherine Knapman, Chris DeFaria and Mark Brown - and of course Prue Fletcher and Joyce Cox.
Pacific Rim - VFX Breakdown,montreal, quebec, pacific, rim, design, 3D, RodeoFX, visual, effects, compositing, cg, vfx, previz, online, color, grading, animation, guillermo, del,Rodeo FX was once again called upon to create exceptional environments and immersive 3D matte paintings. However, Rodeo's CG contributions were much larger than on any previous motion picture. In addition to environment work, ILM trusted Rodeo FX to create, simulate, and animate fully CG creatures and vehicles for a variety of sequences. Rodeo FX was also responsible for all the variations of the interior Robot Head shots, which included building and animating a complex CG rig used to control the actions and movements of the robots – a seamless photo-real blend of both CG and practical FX. This reel represents a small fraction of the work created by over 200 ILM artists, scientists, and engineers backed up by a world class production team. The stop motion animations which open and close the reel were done the old fashioned way - by hand, one frame at a time. They were crafted by ILM's stop motion guru, Erik Dillinger specifically for this reel. -Enjoy!
